Mike is responsible for the digital strategy across News International, his recent appointment follows 3 years as managing director, News Group Newspapers, where he was responsible for The Sun and News of the World, the largest English language newspapers in the world.
Mike has worked in publishing for over 20 years and has managed four newspapers. He has worked on start-ups, turnarounds and transitions.He built Metro from start-up to becoming the fourth largest circulating newspaper in the UK. He moved the Evening Standard from a purely paid-for to a hybrid newspaper. In 2008, the Sun achieved its first year on year, six-month circulation increase in 5 years. The News of the World is now the fastest growing newspaper website in the world and the audience for the Sun across newspapers, mobile and it’s websites now reaches 23million people a month, which is up 18% year on year. This is an average of 15m people reading the newspaper, 7m people visiting the websites and over a million mobile phone interactions. Mike is also the president elect of the Solus Club, the oldest advertising club in the world.
