Roisin Donnelly has the power
We are so proud of our president, P&G’s Roisin Donnelly, who has been declared Britain’s most powerful marketer in Marketing’s Power 100. Marketing reports that “at the helm of this marketing powerhouse, Donnelly, the corporate marketing director and head of marketing, put the heart back into P&G with its overarching ‘Proud supporter of mums’ message.” Roisin’s bold leadership of P&G is an inspiration to the marketing world. Congratulations to Roisin, and to all the other Marketing Society members in the Power 100, eight of whom are in the top 10. View the Power 100.

Debating The Apprentice
Our blog and LinkedIn comment boards have been red hot with discussion about BBC’s The Apprentice, following a scathing commentary by Luke Johnson in the Daily Mail last week. Luke described the show as “a pantomime, full of circus clowns: since 2005, Lord Sugar has been playing a theatrical villain in a pretend office on a TV stage that is about as authentic as Aladdin’s lamp”. Some of you take a different view. Melanie Portrelli says “sure, a lot of it is cringeworthy. Yet I believe that observing that sort of behaviour and decision making actually educates viewers on how not to behave.” What do you think?

The debate is still raging. Is BBC's The Apprentice an insult to business, as Luke Johnson said in the Daily Mail? http://bit.ly/j1IFbT

Very Good Service via blog: Congratulations, seems rather fitting for the President of the Marketing Society to be Britain’s most powerful marketer
Philippa Smart via Twitter: @TheMarketingSoc Not so much an insult but I would say #TheApprentice does not in the least reflect excellent businesses of today.
