Taking place on the 25 November, our St Andrew’s Annual Dinner is the key social event in our calendar.

This year, we are delighted to announce Sir Tom Farmer will give the key note address at the event taking place at The George Hotel, Edinburgh. Sir Tom is widely recognised as one of our most successful entrepreneurs starting as before building the Kwik Fit business to Ford for £1 billion in 1999. More recently Tom has concentrated on investments in New Business Start Ups as well as chairing his beloved Hibernian FC.

After dinner William Burdett-Coutts of The Edinburgh Festival and Assembly Rooms will share a vision of creating a Marketing Festival in August 2010 and will challenge us all to play a part in using this as a platform for presenting world class marketing community. William has had a long and distinguished career in arts marketing including nearly 30 years as Artistic Director of Assembly which runs the Assembly Rooms during the Edinburgh Festival.

Sir Tom founded Kwik-Fit in 1971 from which he resigned after the sale to Ford in 1999. He has a number of business interests which include property development and investments in new business start-ups.

His present appointments are, Chairman of The Trustees of The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, Trustee of the Clerk Maxwell Cancer Research Fund, Honorary President – Young Enterprise Scotland, Trustee of Scottish Business Achievement Award Trust, Honorary President of the Entrepreneurial Exchange, Deputy Lieutenant of the City of Edinburgh and Non-executive Director of Scottish Power.

Artistic Director of Assembly, William Burdett-Coutts runs The Assembly Rooms during The Edinburgh Festival, now one of the Fringe’s most successful venues. Burdett-Coutts is the originator of running The Assembly Rooms as a mega venue.

Outside of Edinburgh, Burdett-Coutts has also ran Glasgow’s Mayfest, was Chairman of Faze FM Radio from 1993-97, created the Boddingtons Manchester Festival 1991-93 and was Head of Arts at Granada Television.

Since 1993, Burdett-Coutts has also been Artistic Director of Riverside Studios in Hammersmith, a multi-disciplinary arts centre. Other present appointments include Festival Director of Brighton Comedy Festival, Chairman of Riverside Studios, Chairman of Red61 and founder of Assembly Media Group.

At the Annual Dinner Burdett-Coutts will present the vision for a Marketing Festival during The Edinburgh Festival.
