Will consumers ever care about carbon? And can brands make a difference?

24 February 2010
5.30 pm - 8 pm
Grange St Paul’s Hotel, London
How will this evening inspire you to Think Differently?
This evening of debate is a Green Agenda event which will give you understanding and awareness of how marketers should encourage sustainable growth through the behaviour of their consumers and business.

Will consumers ever care about carbon? And can brands make a difference?
Growing consumer awareness and understanding around carbon and climate change means that now more than ever it is imperative for businesses to demonstrate tangible reductions in their product’s carbon footprint in order to enhance brand reputation and sales appeal. But how successful has this been and will consumers start to favour one brand over another purely because of its superior carbon reduction commitments?

To discuss this in more depth will be our panellists Tom Delay, CEO, Carbon Trust; Jo Kenrick, The Marketing Society and Rita Clifton, Chairman, Interbrand and Ruth Griradet, corporate responsibility director, Tesco plc. The debate will be chaired by BBC presenter Jenni Murray.

Format of the evening - Debate
These lively evening debates are hosted by a leading marketer with a panel of opposing specialists debating a topical and often controversial subject close to marketers hearts, which is then opened out to the audience for discussion and voting. After the votes are cast and the winner announced you will have the opportunity to continue the debate yourselves over drinks with fellow marketers.

Registration will commence at 5.30pm, with presentations scheduled to start at 6.00pm. Following this, there will be a chance to network with the panellists and other attendees during a drinks reception from 7.30pm.
An ideal opportunity for brand managers and marketers to come together to explore the role that brands have in addressing climate change. There will also be wide-ranging discussion on how brands can leverage the opportunities associated with communicating their carbon savings to consumers.
